Pornography is a serious addiction that can destroy you and your family.
For that which I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.
Romans 7:15
Like all of us Christians, Paul had problems too as you read from the verse. We must never underestimate the power of sin and attempt to fight it with our own strength. Satan makes us think one thing and deceives us into another. We use excuses to try covering our sins when we know what we done was wrong. Pornography is everywhere. Beautiful people on the television, magazines, and the internet. It can lead us into a habit forming addiction that can destroy your family, friends, and even yourself. If you have a pornography addiction, there is help for you. Instead of trying to overcome the problem yourself, grab a hold of God and He will lead you through to victory.
Pornography addiction is as strong as a drug or alcohol addiction. The resistance is so strong that sometimes it is unbearable. Soon pornography has a hold of you, you don't think your spouse is as beautiful as s/he was because the images in your head are of beautiful models, porn stars etc.. Your mind is full of images that you see everywhere you go. Sometimes you realize what you are doing and it is about to drive you crazy. There is nowhere to turn, if you tell your spouse they may leave you, your family might be torn apart but you have to do something.
If you are facing pornography addiction, it is time to give your life to Jesus Christ. If you are already saved, then get right with Him again. He will forgive you if you are sincere. No matter what you are going through or went through, God still loves you and he always will. Remember, there are no excuses, just the choices you make. A committment has to be made, so start now before it is too late
Make a commitment to do some of the following:
If your addiction is on the internet, then only go online when someone else is in the room with you, chances are it will keep you from those sites. Otherwise unplug the pc. If you have to, get rid of the computer.
Get support, talk with your pastor, friends from church. By surrounding yourself with religious people, it will make you stronger.
Read the Bible and motivational books. Reading effects you mentally, which is where your problem is.
Don't be alone - Try walking, or joining a friend for the evening. Talking on the phone, visiting members of your church.
If you have time to get addicted to porn, then you have time to get involved with your church. Talk to your pastor and find out about groups or activities that are going on and be part of it.
Remember, you make the decision to do what you want to do. Observe and make yourself realize when the first thought comes to your mind of pornography and immediately think about something else or go around other people where you know you are safe. Put God first in your life and you will see a change.
